2017 Field day was a success and before I get into the numbers I want to thank each and every one that participated in this year’s event putting in all the long hours, donating food and items, helping out and making sure everything went well. This year we had total of 30 members / guests in attendance.

Bouvet Island DXpedition is Nearing Show Time

The group mounting the 3Y0Z Bouvet Island DXpedition reports that it’s sorting through the myriad details necessary to make a DXpedition to the second most-wanted DXCC entity a reality. Plans call for 3Y0Z to be on the air in late January and early February.

The K7RA Solar Update

Over the past reporting week (December 7-13) we saw three days with zero sunspots (December 8, 9 and 13). Compared to the previous seven days, average daily sunspot number more than doubled to 6.9 and average daily solar flux increased from 69.6 to 71.

ARRL's Logbook of the World to Add Support for CQ WAZ Award

Newington, CT and Hicksville, NY – December 14, 2017 — Participants in CQ magazine's Worked All Zones (WAZ) award program will soon be able to use the Logbook of the World (LoTW) system of ARRL, the national association for Amateur Radio, to apply for the WAZ award and its endorsements, both ARRL and CQ announced today.
